Working hypothesis
Disagreement becomes useful when a system records what is contested, which evidence supports each position, who has authority to decide, and what would cause the decision to be revisited. Consensus is less important than preserving the reasoning that made a decision acceptable at a particular time.
What remains unresolved
- Which disagreements deserve explicit representation rather than ordinary discussion?
- How should decision systems distinguish a competing interpretation from a blocking objection?
- What evidence must survive after authority chooses one path?
Why it matters
Organizations often compress disagreement into a final answer. That makes action possible, but it can erase the assumptions, minority positions, and unresolved uncertainty needed to diagnose the decision later.
